Aww shucks. I’m blushing. I just found out I’ve been nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award by Kristy of Baby Sleep For Me. Please check out her mommy blog where she provides solutions to get your little ones to sleep longer so you can get the sleep you need. Thank you Kristy, I’m truly grateful from the bottom of my heart!
Similar to the Liebster Award, this award is given to bloggers by bloggers in an effort to get to know one another better and spread the love to other blogs.
THE RULES ARE PRETTY SIMPLE
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their site.
2. Answer the 10 questions sent to you.
3. Make up 10 new questions for your nominees to answer.
4. Nominate 8 other bloggers, link them in your post and notify them of their nomination.
THE QUESTIONS FOR ME TO ANSWER
1. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a singer, writer, or doctor. Interesting combination, I know. My first job was as a nurse’s aide, and later I became a medical assistant which fed my desire to help people with wellness, and my fascination with how the body works. But after awhile I realized that big pharma and drugs didn’t resonate with me. Fortunately I learned this before I went and buried myself in student loan debt to become a doctor! So here I am, a holistic health coach, massage therapist, and blogger…that’s still medical-ish and writer-ish right?!
2. What’s the best vacation you’ve ever been on?
I went on a three month ‘eat, pray, love’ journey traveling throughout Thailand, Malaysia, and Europe with a dear girlfriend of mine. Even though I was doing some intense soul searching, ultimately deciding whether or not to end my marriage, (not quite the vacation most people have in mind, I guess) to this day the life changing experiences and perspectives I gained from that trip were the best vacation ever in my book.
3. Do you need coffee to function in the morning?
Short answer: no. I love the smell of coffee, but I don’t like the taste of it black. So if I drink it I like Starbucks caramel macchiato style, which is why I have to limit myself to coffee as an occasional dessert! Oh, plus I’m sensitive to caffeine, it makes me nauseous and gives me jitterbugs. My morning fix is usually a green smoothie or green tea :)
4. What inspired you to start your blog?
As a health coach, initially I was looking for a way to reach more people and knew the internet was the place to be for that. I have always struggled with certain aspects of technology so the thought of blogging wasn’t an obvious choice for me, creating and managing a website. I’m so glad I forced myself out of my comfort zone though! I love the creative aspect of writing content and nothing gives me more satisfaction than interaction with readers that find my information and resources inspiring and useful.
5. If you could give one piece of advice to a new blogger, what would it be?
Blog because you’re passionate about it and genuinely want to help others, not to make money, and your efforts will be rewarded in multiple ways (income included).
6. What do you hope to achieve this year with your blog?
So, ultimately my goal is for people to get inspired and get healthy. The only way this can be achieved is by continuing to grow my reader base, resulting in a loyal group of followers that are revisiting my site and sharing posts with others because they are inspired by what they are benefiting from. So I guess the goal is to increase traffic and followers through likes and shares.
7. Do you have any pets?
My 17 year old tabby cat. I adore her, we’ve been together for a long time. She is becoming quite vocal in her old age though, and she already was vocal, as tabby’s usually are!
8. If you won a million dollars, what would be the first thing you did with it?
Pay off credit cards! Sorry, boring I know but I have to be practical on that one.
9. What do you enjoy doing that makes you laugh?
Watching a funny movie, reading funny books, quotes, or blogs. Playing with my cat.
10. What are you most proud of?
My journey to health and well being! I think that was my shortest answer :)

Hi Jess,
Thank you for your award first of all! I really enjoy your website and reading your posts. I believe you deserve this award because your passion and hard word is visible through your work here.
This award has also given me the opportunity to know you a bit better and build some kind of rapport with you. I also went on a self (soul/spiritual) journey and changed a few things in my life and myself that I didn’t like or need to be changed so that I could grow. I am still on that journey and I am glad I started it. I feel better about myself, my life, my relationships, my decisions and ultimately I take life day by day, I stopped stressing about the unknown, about what I can’t control.
Jess, I hope you get to reach your goals here in your blog and in your life. All the best and all success to you!!
Monica
Monica, you’re so welcome! You deserve it, you work hard everyday and it shows in your website and posts. Your comment about my work here on the site means so much especially coming from a fellow blogger that understands the love and passion you must have surrounding your topics and readers in order to put in the work we do, and even more so from a reader viewpoint that you enjoy and find my posts informative.
Thanks for sharing about your soul/spiritual journey! It really did open a sort of growth portal in my life, in so many ways it changed my perspective in positive ways I’m forever grateful for. And like you, I became inspired to continue that journey everyday, I believe we are meant to grow and expand forever, for me that is the journey :) I hope that I can continue to inspire others to enjoy being in the moment by enjoying their own self care journey into well being.
All the best to you. In health and happiness :)
