Doctor’s Best Nattokinase Review

Six months ago I had a bit of a health scare that led me to nattokinase. Based on my personal experience after taking it I felt compelled to share a review of Doctor’s Best Nattokinase and how it has changed my health, in hopes that it can help more people.

If you’ve looked into the benefits of Nattokinase you’re aware that it’s most well known for the studies proving its remarkable ability to dissolve blood clots.

Doctor's Best Nattokinase Review

Nattokinase is often referred to as “a miracle enzyme” and “the clot-busting miracle” and while that may seem a bit far fetched, I opted to call it an inflammation fighting superhero here in my post where I talk in depth about its benefits. Let’s get started with a brief overview about Nattokinase.

What is Nattokinase?

Natto is actually a Japanese food made by fermenting soy beans with Bacillus natto, a good bacteria. This food has been and still is consumed in Japanese culture for more than 1,000 years as a remedy for vascular and heart diseases.

This review will discuss the benefits of nattokinase in the form of a potent fibrinolytic enzyme supplement derived from natto. Researcher Dr. Horoyuki Sumi was looking for a remedy to dissolve blood clots related to heart attacks and strokes when he discovered the ability of nattokinase to do just that.

Further research in the 1980’s verified its ability to clean out arteries and remove blood clots. Studies have shown nattokinase to activate four times greater fibrinolytic activity (anti-clotting ability) than plasmin, the body’s primary anti-clotting enzyme.

Nattokinase supplementation can help prevent hardening of the arteries in the first place and prevent worse problems as a result.

Furthermore, Japanese researchers have shown 100 grams of natto to exhibit the same fibrinolytic activity as traditional clot-dissolving drugs with the effects lasting several hours longer.

How Does Nattokinase Work in the Body?

The nature of the fibrinolytic activity exhibited by nattokinase is to inhibit too much fibrin from building up in the body causing excess scar tissue (including arterial plaque), blood clots, and inflammation accompanied by pain. It also acts by “eating away” at existing build-up of fibrin, allowing new healthy tissue to regenerate.

This is important since excess fibrin in the body leads to inflammatory conditions not only limited to clogged arteries but also things like fibromyalgia, uterine fibriods, endometriosos, and fibrocystic breasts.

If the ability of nattokinase to cleanse the blood and break down adhesive substances that make arterial plaque very sticky without many of the negative side effects of pharmaceutical drugs is not appealing enough, modern science is starting to take a closer look at the therapeutic role proteolytic enzymes play in general oncology and overall immune wellness.

Health Benefits of Nattokinase

  • Dissolves fibrin and helps keep arteries clean
  • Can prevent blood clots by increasing the body’s natural production of plasmin and other blood clot dissolving components and help to dissolve existing blood clots
  • May aid in prevention of heart attack, stroke, varicose veins, muscle spasms and pain
  • May help to normalize and lower blood pressure

My Personal Experience With Doctor’s Best Nattokinase

As I mentioned at the start of this post, I’ve been taking Nattokinase for the last six months.

Doctor's Best Nattokinase Review-DVT

Around that time pain I had been experiencing in my leg had gotten progressively worse. The vein on the inside of my leg just under the knee was inflamed, with a deep throbbing pain and sore even to the touch.

The pain got increasingly worse at night when I tried to sleep, to the point where it almost became unbearable.

I started to get really concerned.

I had been keeping an eye on it for some time since the symptoms were indicative of circulatory issues. Although I eat a healthy diet and am active, blogging has me sitting for long periods on a laptop.

Sitting while working is a totally new thing for me, at my jobs before this I have always constantly been on my feet, which wrecked my body in other ways. And although constant standing and walking created circulatory issues resulting in spider veins in my legs, this sitting was creating a very different circulatory issue, especially because I like to sit cross-legged which was creating a big problem.

I totally spaced that sitting like that everyday for prolonged periods of time was probably kinking off my blood flow.

My symptoms sounded a lot like the beginnings of DVT (deep vein thrombosis)

So I started doing research about natural ways to increase circulation with herbal remedies and natural remedies to break up blood clots just in case. Learning about a supplement called nattokinase back in my days of managing the supplements department at a natural foods store rang a bell so I started researching it again.

Turns out it was the number one thing recommended for clearing blood clots. I read numerous testimonials of people with great results. See for yourself :)

Next step: Find a quality product. After much research I decided to try Doctor’s Best Nattokinase and couldn’t be happier with the results. I started to feel relief in my leg within days of taking it and a couple of weeks later the inflammation and pain in my leg were gone. Six months later I have zero inflammation or pain in my leg, not even while I sleep at night.

Obviously it’s doing a fantastic job supporting my circulatory system but even more than that, I honestly think it cleared up any clots and will continue to prevent them in the future.

I’m honestly over the moon with this product, and would suggest it to anyone looking for a similar solution.

How to Use Nattokinase

Nattokinase is an enzyme that must be taken on an empty stomach to work properly. When taken with food present in the stomach enzymes will concentrate on digesting food, but we want nattokinase to get in to the bloodstream which is where it needs to go to break down fibrin.

The best way I’ve found to do this is to take one first thing in the morning with at least 8 ounces of water, allowing 30 minutes before eating anything and one again at night before bed at least 1 1/2 hours after my last meal.

Update: When I first started Doctor’s Best Nattokinase, suggested use was 1 capsule 2 times daily, it is now 1 capsule daily, or as recommended by a nutritionally informed physician.

Are There any Side Effects?

There are no known side effects in healthy people taking nattokinase. Individuals at risk for or who have any conditions associated with excessive bleeding, are taking blood thinners of any sort, medication to lower blood pressure, or are pregnant, are not advised to take nattokinase. It’s advised to stop nattokinase 1-2 weeks prior to surgery.

Individuals who have suffered intracranial bleeding, had neurosurgery, ischemic stroke within the last 6 months, recently suffered from major trauma, or ulcers are advised to avoid supplementation.

Final Thoughts

Just because I’m in the clear now doesn’t mean I can go back to sitting the way I used to. Nowadays along with taking nattokinase I am much more conscious of how I sit for extended periods of time and try and get up and stretch and walk regularly. But I am forever grateful to nattokinase for the absence of inflammation and pain and the potential that it saved me from a life threatening blood clot.

And if there’s any chance it may do the same for others, all the more reason to share :)

So if you are a blood pressure med.. you should not take nattokinase ? I have kidney disease. My kidneys are scarred and calcifying and I was hoping that this would help.
