White Hot Truth Danielle Laporte

White Hot Truth by Danielle LaPorte: All Real. All Love. Fierce and Funny. A Fiery Light for Soul Seekers

White Hot Truth is one of the most real and insightful books on self-help, soul-seeking and gaining clarity on our spiritual path I’ve read in awhile. Written by a true visionary, truth teller, and Oprah SuperSoul 100 member, Danielle LaPorte once again lights it on fire, sprinkles it with humor, and keeps it real and honest as she shares insights for trusting our truth while seeking clarity and light on our spiritual path.

When we find ourselves questioning why there is so much confusion when it comes to spiritual progress and why it seems that more than ever so many methods or practices are full of nonsense, and it’s getting harder to find the real spiritual teachers in the sea of the spiritual growth industry and the age of the internet…it’s easy to get frustrated and burnt out in our search for truth and light.

The cover of White Hot Truth states: Clarity for keeping it real on your spiritual path – from one seeker to another. But does this book really deliver or is it just more self-help spiritual frou-frou?

One thing I’m certain of is this: As I continue to set my sail and navigate the crazy waters of spirituality in a modern world and journey deeper into the authentic path of the soul, without a doubt, this woman is someone I can learn from. I need her insights. If you are on a similar path, there is so much to be gained from this book.

What Exactly is White Hot Truth?

White Hot Truth is an exploration of the conflicts between genuine spiritual aspiration and our compulsion to improve, as described inside the cover. Danielle gets down, dirty, and funny, sharing years of personal experiences with various types of spirituality and gets real about how our self-help can easily become self-criticism.

Throughout the book she opens the door to contemplation, asking thought provoking questions, and encouraging you to dig deep and search for what really makes you tick spiritually and what some of your deepest desires are on a soul level, so that you can discern the path of Truth for YOU when it comes to self-help and self-love. In this video she describes her thoughts on The Path Within Your Path from chapter 14…

Some of My Personal Takeaways from White Hot Truth

The insights I took away from this book are too many to mention. White Hot Truth seriously ROCKED MY WORLD. I am no stranger to the world of spirituality and soul-seeking, but for as long as I’ve been on my path, I’ve never seen spirituality deconstructed the way it is in this book.

Lies deconstructed. My whole take on the “evil ego” completely turned on it’s head. My feelings on boundaries reinforced but in such a real way…”Open, gentle heart. Big fucking fence” is by far one of my favorite statements ever now. Just listen to how beautifully Danielle explains it in this video…

Mixing your own medicine…LOVE that.

How about forgiveness? Forgiveness has been such a theme in my life and the lives of well, pretty much all of us that I’ve written a post on it. But man did that one get turned on it’s head for me. Like Danielle shares, “I really do believe that forgiveness is the primary Light source of an illuminated existence”. Me too! “That said, choosing-at a critical moment-not to forgive was one of the most spiritual, Soul-affirming acts of my life.” Whoa, wait but that’s sooo not spiritual..huh?!

That’s one you definitely want to read deeper on.

So many truths, all the while encouraging you to ultimately become your own guru. I can jive with that. I’ve always kinda had an issue with the title “guru” anyway, so becoming my own “guru” takes all the glitz and glam out of it and brings it back to just lil ‘ol me. No better, no worse than anyone else. Just me. And you. And all the “gurus.” More awareness, deeper respect, less dependency. YES PLEASE!

So many freeing revelations. Discernment – when the negative serves the positive. The chapter on pain and suffering. Pain and suffering are our teachers and we should be grateful for them. Yes and no. Desire and manifestation. Too many many people are promoting “positive thinking” and Law of Attraction these days and leaving out a HUGE missing piece.

Paradoxes. Oh my…paradoxes. So we can “be understanding and not take any shit, have strong preferences and be easy to please, own our extraordinariness and our ordinariness? Well alright then!

Danielle’s wisdom backed by real life experiences is a true gift. Like I said, there were so many A-HA moments for me, it’s ridiculous! If these topics are up your alley, you will love this book.

I leave you with an excerpt and urge you to read this book…it’s a total rockin’ breath of fresh air!!!

The joy of the truth about joy…

For the longest time, I thought that joy was, ultimately, our true nature, the centre of our centre. That assumption felt close, but not quite there. After much more making, meditating, struggling, succeeding, raging, chanting, sweetening, risking, respecting, humbling, healing, and inquiring, I believe this:

Joy is what happens when you make contact with your soul.

When I meet my soul – in a moment of reflection that brings a revelation, in the ecstatic passion of merging, in the simplest of intimacies with moonlight or strangers at the corner store – then I experience joy.

When I am being as me as I can possibly be, well, that’s euphoria, no matter what my expression results in. When I see how the Cosmic Genius guides every single detail of my life to make up the Grand Scheme of it, I feel incredible joy – so much that it fills me up and I rationalize that I must be made of the stuff.

Your joy is where you locate your white hot Truth – your pure-burning-is-ness, from where you have the creative power to turn thought into matter. You want to know who you are? Follow the joy, it’s your Soul’s reflection.

Joy is not the same as happiness. Happiness is like good weather. It’s the billowy clouds floating in the sky. Joy is the atmosphere created by Truth, the whole sky itself, accommodating every experience from sunshine to tornadoes. Happiness comes and goes. Joy is ever present.

This is why, even in horrible sorrow, we can still feel the joy of being connected to our Truth. Joy is foundational; you can put anything on top of it. This means that it’s possible to grieve intensely and still sense joy. You can feel bitter, and be aware of joy waiting patiently for your return. You can be hollowed out by loss, and feel held by the container of the joy of your existence.

Some people can be swimming in emotional shit and still declare, I’m getting to the greater Truth – whatever it takes, however long it takes. And with those friends, you should get in there and shovel, share in the weeping, climb, incant, and wait, actively, as long as it takes. Because they will teach you how to become really, truly joyful.

If you want to increase your joy, deepen your devotion to knowing the Truth. The Truth of who you are.

  2. Hey Jess:

Danielle Laporte sounds like a person I’d like to hang with for a whlle. After reading your fan-notes I am definitely going to look into the lady’s work. Parallel paths are so fun to explore!

There are so many paths, of course, but I do tend to agree with you (and Laporte) that the greatest lessons are learned during the dark times. They make a matrix that sets off your joyous times so much better.

You appreciate your joy if you don’t hide under the bed every time it gets stormy.

    1. Netta, thanks for stopping by and reading! I hope you enjoy Danielle’s raw and inspiring insights as much as I do and I absolutely love how you put that last sentence! XOXOXO
